In Ghana, you can be buried in a shoe...

If you don't believe me, check out these pictures:

Or a snake, an eagle, a turkey...

You can go as a missile, a pepper or a rooster...

Or even a crab.

Just ask the coffin makers, they'll do it for you.

  2. Hahaha. Trust me, they'll do anything you want. All coffins are handcrafted, made to order. A man who was a fisherman asked to be buried in a fish. I saw a cars, everything.

  4. Hi Corra,

So glad you stopped by. Yes, they're quite expensive because it takes a long time to make one. The National Geographic came and did a documentary.

Thanks a lot for the award! How kind and generous of you. Your blog is so lovely and inspiring.

  5. That is the coolest, weirdest, and most fascinating thing I've seen in a while! I never would have thought people made or were buried is coffins like those.

  6. I know what you mean! That was my reaction. I hadn't been to Ghana in years and I was so surprised. But it actually derives from animism, the traditional religion and the idea that one continues living in the next world. So the idea is to go in your chosen profession or anything you want to be :)
